Discography is a technique used to determine whether a spinal disc is torn, bulged or scared. A needle is guided by x-ray into the patients back and then a liquid dye is injected into the disc. Depending on where the dye moves, doctors are able to tell what discs are damaged. This procedure is repeated until all suspected problematic disc have been identified. Discography paired with a patient interview is a very effective way to identify a problematic disc.
