Prolotherapy: Outcome and Risks

Preferred Pain Management & Spine Care offers prolotherapy to treat chronic pain. It is used to improve function of the area injected, reduces stiffness, and reduces or eliminates pain. After the first visit, the patient may experience 50-75% reduction in pain – and the pain can continue to diminish over the remaining treatment period. By reducing pain, prolotherapy also enables patients to improve the strength of the injured area.

Side effects of the procedure can include bruising in the treatment area, increased pain, swelling, stiffness, joint effusion, infection and tendon/ligament injury.
